Our programmes in AI ethics, responsible practice, and governance
Each programme is designed to stand alone. They are also designed so that, if you complete all three, you will have a coherent and grounded body of knowledge about responsible AI.

All three of our programmes share a common structure: a pre-recorded session available at the start of each week, a reading or resource to accompany it, a written reflection submitted by the end of the week, and a discussion thread that runs throughout. Tutors contribute to the discussion and provide written commentary on each reflection.
The written reflection is the central activity in each week. It is not long — typically three to five hundred words — but it is substantive. The point is to work out what you actually think about the material, not to demonstrate that you have read it. Tutors respond to the substance of what you have written, and those responses often become the most valuable part of the week's work.
Applied projects in the Responsible AI Practitioner Track and the Governance Programme are developed over the second half of each programme. Participants are encouraged to draw from a scenario relevant to their own working context. Tutors review drafts in progress and provide written feedback before the final submission.

AI Ethics and Foundations
A ten-week part-time course for learners who would like a calm, careful introduction to the ethical and social dimensions of applied AI alongside a grounded technical foundation. The course covers fairness and bias considerations, the social context of automated decision-making, careful reading of model documentation, and an honest look at the limitations of current systems.
Each week pairs a recorded session with a structured discussion thread and a short written reflection. The course is suited to learners who would like to think clearly about the work before, during, and after technical implementation.

How each week works

Watch the recorded session (approximately 45 minutes) and read any accompanying materials.

Write and submit your weekly reflection — 300–500 words on the central question of the week.

Participate in the discussion thread; read and respond to at least two other contributions.

Receive written commentary on your reflection from the course tutor.

Responsible AI Practitioner Track
A fourteen-week part-time track for learners already working in applied AI who would like to develop a stronger practitioner's command of evaluation, documentation, and the practical conduct of fairness and safety work in a small team.
The track covers structured model assessment, the practical writing of model cards and data sheets, communication with non-technical stakeholders, and a small applied project drawn from a realistic working context. Each module pairs a live session with a written exercise, supported by weekly small-group discussion sessions.

AI Governance Programme
A five-month part-time programme for learners who would like to develop the skills required to support governance work around AI systems within a wider organisation. The programme covers structured assessment frameworks, the practical drafting of internal policy, conversations with technical and non-technical colleagues, and a small applied project drawn from each cohort member's own working context.
Each cohort is small and is supported by regular one-to-one meetings, so the pace is set by the learner's own development of their governance work over the course of the programme.
